Last night after boarding the plane headed to San Francisco, the first song I heard on my iPhone was “All of the Lights.” I listened to Kanye and thought one thing — he must really miss his Mom.

We all know Kanye was mighty tight with his Mom and we had the opportunity to see that on every red carpet where they smiled and loved one another for all to see. They shared a special bond that mother and child only have the privilege of knowing. I saw the spark between them…. She was his reason. His reason for everything.

I can certainly relate. I’m extremely close with my Mom, and as a matter of fact she’s recently come to stay with me and loves it. I love having her near — she truly is my best friend.

I urge all of you to take a moment to thank your Mom and whoever else has helped to shape and mold you into the person you are. Truly appreciate what a gift they are, and if like Kanye you’ve lost them, always remember that their greatest gifts still lie within you.
