I am so proud to announce that this month marks the 5th year anniversary of the organization I created, Hip Hop Sisters.

I launched the Hip Hop Sisters platform back in 2006 to make a space for young girls and women who love Hip Hop to showcase their talent. Whether they are MC’s, DJ’s, photographers, journalists or just fans of hip hop, we’ve been inclusive of all who are interested in promoting women’s various roles in Hip Hop.

People often ask me what happened to the female MC and after I explain that “THEY” are alive and prospering, I am able to send them to the active www.hiphopsisters.com community as proof!

For half a decade now this platform has allowed like minded artists to network and learn about all sides of the music business. It has always been a passion of mine to consistently let women know that in order to keep their dream alive, they must push and promote their artistry.

Another goal of mine has been to educate those who are seeking information related to their specific passions in Hip Hop. It’s why I’ve never limited the organization to include just MC’s. It is also why we have made it a point to serve not just as a place where women in Hip Hop can connect with one another but also a place where real learning can happen. We’ve fostered this by having monthly conference calls where professionals share their insider knowledge about the business.

I would be remiss in not listing the women who have helped this organization grow: Mecca, Atlas, Redd and Phlaque. I thank all four of you for your dedication and hard work!

I look forward to continuing to build this organization and watch it reach new heights. Within the next few years I’m hoping that even more women become involved and that we’re able to create some exciting partnerships that will help further our very important mission.

If you haven’t already, make sure to check out Hip Hop Sisters online www.HipHopsisters.com and join the movement!!!!
